PLAYING WINDOWS (.EXE) GAMES IN LINUX

WINE (Windows Emulator)
In order to play games in ".exe" file using Linux, especially Ubuntu, you have to install the software called "Windows Emulator" or simply "WINE".  Wine is a compatibility layer for running Windows application on Linux.  Applications are run at full speed without the need of CPU emulation.  WINE does not require Microsoft Windows, however it can use native system dll files in place of its own if they are available.  To  install this program, go to "Ubuntu Software Center" and in the search box, type Wine and you should in the results "Wine Microsoft Windows Compatibility Layer" then click install.

PLAYonLINUX
Play on Linux is a front-end for WINE.  It permits you to easily install Windows Games and Software on Linux but an active internet connection is required.  To install, go to "Ubuntu Software Center" and type in the search box "Playon Linux" and you should see the application listed in the results below.  Click install.

After installing these software, you should be able to install Windows applications and games just like installing them in Windows.

Note:  Not all games and software will function as good as when they are installed in Windows and some may not even function at all.
